The question of champions!   There are times that come when, rather than standing aside and observing the work of the Lord, he would encourage us to engage.   This can be confusing, especially when we are seeking to walk obediently, to what we know to be the will of God for us. However, we can learn a lot from the lives of those who have gone on ahead of us in how they responded to God in times of confusion.
