What's My Battle Plan

This is an excerpt taken from my forthcoming book Divine Development, which is due for release on April 6, 2026.

What's My Battle Plan?

The question of champions!

There are times that come when, rather than standing aside and observing the work of the Lord, he would encourage us to engage.

This can be confusing, especially when we are seeking to walk obediently, to what we know to be the will of God for us. However, we can learn a lot from the lives of those who have gone on ahead of us in how they responded to God in times of confusion. Particularly, when they knew the Lord was calling them to a specific battle. The problem I believe is not in our seeking God, for this is to be encouraged and shown to be so throughout scripture, no, the problem is we are not asking the right question to be fully confident when we receive the answer. For, if the question is too general broad or just vague, how will we know what specific action to take?

Did not David find himself in such a situation when he faced the philistines in 2nd Samuel 5:19, we read ‘…David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?”

David saw past his problem and sought direct advice and favour from God regarding his challenge, knowing that God was in complete control even of his enemies. In the same verse God answered David's question directly, and by doing so, confirmed his authority stating “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.”

This is all the information David needed to act in faith and defeat his enemies. Now, we know that God does not always act this way, sometimes, his responses are delayed until in many cases, we are fully ready to receive the answer. However, this should not hold us back from at least seeking God to help us ask the right question, so that we can commit our plans to God knowing that they will be successful.

For, we are also told that’ … you do not have because you do not ask.’ in James 4:2 NKJV. I don't know what difficulties you are personally experiencing while reading this, the challenges that lay ahead as you seek to be faithful to God and advance his Kingdom, but be encouraged, the sovereign Lord is overall the challenges that seem insurmountable, because we are also told in scripture that ‘…with God nothing shall be impossible.’ Luke 1:37 KJB

Ask him today to help you unlock within your heart the true question you should be asking, for in the asking, we are still demonstrating faith, which is pleasing to God, the Captain of our salvation, and in many cases, once we receive a response, it's also God himself demonstrating his trust in us.

It is time to awaken your true strength in the Spirit and shake off any lingering doubts about how much God wants you to be successful in every area of your life. So, I encourage you in the nicest possible way to action with the verse “Awake, O sleeper…and Christ will give you light.” Ephesians 5:14 NLT

A good example of how to start your prayer is found in the book of Acts, where the apostle Paul asks the question which we will all need to ask at some point in our development is - “Lord, what do You want me to do?”  Acts 9:6 NKJV

Go in faith, go in strength, go in God.
